The Richmond Animal League is very fortunate to have a roster of over 300 dedicated, animal loving volunteers!
Please note that the minimum age to volunteer at RAL is generally 18. Youth are welcome with some restrictions. All youth volunteers will have a probationary 6 volunteer days and will be limited to dishes, laundry, and learning. After the 6 sessions, the youth may begin working with animals while being mentored and trained. Age 16 and up are welcome to volunteer unattended with guardian permission. Youth volunteers 13 to 15 must volunteer with an adult present.
What days and times do volunteers work?
There are opportunities at RAL for individuals with all different types of availability. Generally, we ask volunteers to commit to at least 3 months on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Most volunteer shifts are 2-4 hours in length. If you need community service hours in a short time period we may not be the correct fit for you, but we are more than willing to help with hours over a few months. more FAQs
